Wait I thought "pulling a Komen" was arbitrarily claiming an unoriginal catch phrase and then beating up all your so-called friends who try to use it. Or being that one obnoxious girl in the clique who claims pink is "her" color and how dare you wear it to the prom.

Well, they did back-peddle, Bagger and reversed their decision. It boggles my mind that people tend to see PP as for abortions only. Those people are clueless about the services PP provides. Now PP needs to get back on track and do some damage control.

"a bunch of self-aggrandizing bastards', says my sister who tried to organize a benefit run years ago in Carbondale, Illinois, only to be told by the Komen gang they weren't "big enough".
Bravo and Amen to your article.
Here in Florida's panhandle, the Redneck Riviera, Pink Think is hot. They have bra decorating contests and brilliant graffitti promoting the commercialization of breast cancer. Men wear bras over their tshirts that say, "Show us your Ta-Tas". The Komen gang supports these obscenities. Everyone involved smiles and feels good about their contribution. Thoughtful victims and survivors grit their teeth or weep.
Let the groundswell of disgust, mistrust and protest continue and grow. Let support for Planned Parenthood continue to provide women with services, care and options for better health. The better the health care and education, the fewer abortions. Zero is a good goal. Let Planned Parenthood make that goal a reality.
Thank you for your strong, sensitive, sensible article.

I don't think those pounds are lost. I think they are creeping around the kitchen waiting to accost me.

I really do think that Obama is a decent guy who is trying to do good. I just don't think he's a true believer. He likes being a politician, making deals and trying to make people happy..

It's funny to watch them backpedal now. They keep going on about how it wasn't really about PP; it was to avoid tarnished institutions. That might have flown, but at the outset, one of their execs was quoted as saying that it was indeed about PP and this was the way they chose to distance themselves.

Also note that one of Sarah Palin's staunch advisors is a recent addition to their board. I don't remember her name, but she was behind a lot of the effort to discredit PP over the last year.

Wow. That last part made bust up laughing.

I feel the exact same way as you do. I always love reading your posts because you can write everything I'm feeling and make it sound intellectual. I stopped running the Race for the Cure simply because it was too much...everything. Like, I'm all for support your sister and such, 100%, but it was the amount of money pumped into these races...I wonder how much even goes to prevention and how much goes to lining the pockets of the rich.
